With Artists’ Union England, this talk offers advice about artists unionising, as well as the importance of artists’ unions and being a part of a network as an independent artist.

There will be times where your working values are questioned and challenged with opportunities that arise.

Artists’ Union England advocate for artists being treated with fairness, dignity, respect and positive and lawful working practices at all times without exception.

This event is part of PANIC! Together, a double-weekend artist development programme with The Art House, Wakefield.

This is an online event that will also be screened live at The Art House.

This session will be recorded and made available online after the event.

Zita Holbourne is a life long trade unionist and a multidisciplinary artist, working as visual artist, curator, writer, author, poet and vocalist. She is the joint National Chair of Artists’ Union England and also the National Vice President of PCS Union and is an experienced negotiator and personal case officer. She is part of the UNESCO Coalition of Artists for the General History of Africa and the founder and curator of the Roots Culture Identity art exhibition, established by the Trades Union Congress Race Relations Committee which Zita is elected to in memory of Stephen Lawrence.
