About

Yorkshire Contemporary is a visual arts organisation based in Leeds.

You may know us as The Tetley, a contemporary art gallery open 2013–2023. Before that, we started out life in 2006 as an artist-led gallery called Project Space Leeds. You can find out more about our history here.

What we do

Yorkshire Contemporary is a charity and our mission is to:

  • Create exciting opportunities for people to see visual art for free
  • Support children and adults to be creative
  • Provide a platform for early career artists and nurture their practices

We work in lots of ways, such as:

  • Presenting ambitious, free exhibitions across Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond
  • Commissioning public art – both permanent and temporary
  • Collaborating with communities and artists to provide new art and play opportunities for children
  • Working internationally to foster links between artists and audiences across the globe

Our future plans

We’re continuing to search for a new permanent home as we continue with our mission and work.

From our art and play project in south Leeds to our international work, you can find out about what we’re up to on our Journal.
