At Yorkshire Contemporary, 'Participation' is about both how we enable local communities to engage with contemporary art, and how we as an organisation participate in the life of our community.
Our ambitious Participation programme is led by regional and international artists, and our projects include:
- collaborative exhibitions;
- free family workshops;
- creating dedicated spaces for children and young people;
- and key partnerships with local organisations, providing space and practical help for community projects that support marginalised people.
Through art-making, we invite our collaborators to explore risk-taking and creative expression, making time and space for contemporary art in our day to day lives.
