Join artist Sean Roy Parker for this practical session addressing how you can begin to ‘decarbonise’ your art practice.

In art terms, indifference towards the climate crisis is apparent in the way we treat our materials: aggressive extraction, short-term single-use, and irresponsible disposal. The labour, transport and presentation of artworks also contributes towards wasteful practices.

Sean Roy Parker leads this session, focused on making changes to the way we conduct our practices while remaining authentic and taking risks.

The talk considers the socio-economic pressures of being an artist, and invites us to creatively take responsibility for our choices.

This event is part of PANIC! Together, a double-weekend artist development programme with The Art House, Wakefield.

Sean Roy Parker is an artist, environmental educator and fermentation enthusiast based at DARP artist community in rural Derbyshire. His work examines the lifecycle of materials, complexities of civic responsibility and problem-solving through collaborative action. He practises traditional approaches to craft and art-making, using leftover or abundant items of nature and artifice to explore feelings of eco-anxiety in late-stage capitalism, and redistributes resources through flexible care structures like labour exchanges and favours.
