Practice is an artist accelerator initiative based on Yorkshire Contemporary’s artist development programme - Tetley’s Associate Artists’ Programme – TAAP. Designed for artists at a pivotal stage in their careers, the programme offers significant mentoring, training and professional development led by our experienced curators.

Yorkshire Contemporary is dedicated to supporting early-career artists, providing a platform to nurture their practices and further enrich Yorkshire’s arts and cultural landscape.

Designed for artists at a pivotal stage in their careers, the programme offers significant mentoring, training and professional development led by our experienced curators.

An independent evaluation by Dr. Jonathan Ward and Dr. Robert Knifton found that Yorkshire Contemporary’s artist development programme successfully enhanced artists’:

  • Confidence – Strengthening artists’ belief in their practice, place within and engagement with the art world.
  • Focus – Providing space, support, and structure to deepen their artistic practice.
  • Networks – Enabling artists to benefit from Yorkshire Contemporary’s valuable contacts and connections.
