Antibodies: a collaborative Live Art programme

Raisa Kabir is a UK based artist and weaver who uses interwoven text, textiles, sound, video and performance. Kabir’s (un)weaving performances comment on trans-national power, colonial geographies of production, and the relationship between craft, the racialised body and global industrialised labour.

Bandu Manamperi is a performance artist and member of Theertha International Artist’s Collective based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Manamperi’s practice brings together notions of memory and demonstrates how the effects of external events and doctrines are absorbed to create bodily memories that become inscribed within us and shape our being.

Hetain Patel is a UK based artist working across multiple formats to reach the widest possible audience. In addition to museum and theatre shows, his video and performance work online have been watched over 50 million times. For Antibodies, Patel will develop an intimate solo performance exploring language and loss, through choreography and text.

Amol K Patil is a performer and visual artist, based in India. He has been working and experimenting with drawings, objects, video and performance, using and responding to his family archive. His work questions the current situation of workers and casteism, striving to connect the past, present and future. He recently participated at Documenta fifteen, Kassel.

Joydeb Roaja lives and works in Khagrachari, Bangladesh. His interconnected performance, painting and drawing practice highlights the challenging social and political landscape of Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts, home to 11 indigenous groups including Roaja’s community, the Tripura. His works are tied to the experiences of indigeneity, often emphasising the symbiotic connection of these groups with their land.

Afrah Shafiq is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Goa, India. Her work emerges from long-term engagements with archives – both institutional and informal – as well as stories and other fugitive material across the internet. Through a diversity of research modes and devices, her work also learns from practices of reading, organising, plotting and classifying.

Nicola Singh is a UK based performance artist and experimental vocalist. She uses text, sound and improvisation to explore the difficulties of language. Her practice also incorporates film, drawing and movement practices. Singh will present a durational performance that uses vocal improvisation and mantra.

India/UK Together, a Season of Culture (June 2022 to March 2023), celebrates the friendship between the UK and India. Marking the 75th anniversary of India, this cultural exchange will showcase a vibrant programme of events across music, theatre, cinema, literature, fashion and visual arts. Antibodies is one of the projects within its Science, arts and heritage in times of change programme.
