Yorkshire Contemporary to co-curate Turner Prize 2025 with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Tate and Bradford District Museums & Galleries

Journal 28 Oct 2024

Yorkshire Contemporary is delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Tate and Bradford District Museums & Galleries, to co-curate the Turner Prize in the city of Bradford

The Turner Prize showcases and celebrates the most exciting new talent and developments in British art every year. In 2025, the Prize will also mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of its namesake, the artist JMW Turner (1775-1851).

Supporting artists and presenting ambitious, free exhibitions in our region, is central to Yorkshire Contemporary’s mission. Helping to realise such a prestigious event in Yorkshire is a significant milestone and honour not only for the organisation, but also for the communities and artists Yorkshire Contemporary serves. The Turner Prize in 2025 will offer an opportunity for all to engage in world class contemporary art during such a special year, and contribute to the amazing programme of events, exhibitions, performances, arts and culture during Bradford’s year as UK City of Culture.

In spring, Bradford 2025 will announce the names of the shortlisted artists. And then in autumn, their work will be presented at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, with the winner announced in December 2025.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Curator to deliver our partnership programmes in Bradford, including co-curating the Turner Prize 2025.
