Spring at The Tetley

Journal 16 Feb 2022

Spring is just around the corner and we’re looking ahead to the next few months to share our exciting programme of exhibitions, events, open studios and more.

Exhibitions

Recently opened, Justin Fitzpatrick’s exhibition Alpha Salad  is ‘a feast, both for the mind and the senses’ (Creative Tourist).

Join us for a series of related events exploring the exhibition, including Fitzpatrick in conversation with Paul Clinton at The Tetley on Wednesday 2 March, and an exhibition tour with the Art Doctors exploring life cycles on Thursday 10 March.

Opening in May, we’re also excited to announce a new exhibition by artist Emily Hesse, The Witches’ Institution (W.I.), presented in collaboration with Professor Andrea Phillips.

After a residency at The Tetley this spring, in May Bubu Ogisi will also present an exhibition of new work made in collaboration with young creatives in Leeds.

Open Studios

As well as our exhibitions programme, we’ll have a number of open studios. Take a peek behind the scenes and discover the work of artists from our TAAP programme, Benaiah Matheson and David Sowerby.

PANIC! Promoting an Artists’ Network in the Crisis

Now live on our What’s On page, we’ve just revealed the full programme for PANIC! Together, our double-weekend artist development programme in collaboration with The Art House, Wakefield.

All twelve sessions are free, and many available online as well as in person. Get booking today!

Later in the year, we’re also excited to share the commissions of our third round of bursary artists.

You’ll also be able to view the work of the bursary artists presented in a showcase at the PANIC! Together weekends – some which is already available to discover online.

The Tetley Makers’ Market

Join us for a weekend of art, food, live music and more as we celebrate 200 years of Tetley at our next Makers’ Market.

Studio Spaces

Opening on Wednesday 23 February, Tiny Tetley Studio is a new artist-designed play space for children under 5s.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll also soon be opening another studio space for young people on our second floor, in a new commission by Sable Radio.

Bar & Kitchen

In our Bar & Kitchen, we’ll be embracing spring with a new seasonal menu, refreshed with lots of vibrant flavours and a whole host of additional plant-based options.

To celebrate the new arrival of sustainability-focused head chef Jade Crawley, The Tetley is also rolling out a series of experiential food-focused events.

Save the date for the first one on Saturday 23 April, which will respond to our current exhibition Alpha Salad.

In late spring, we’re also excited to welcome the return of our Friday Socials. Stay tuned for more details!
