Yorkshire Contemporary is seeking an Assistant Curator to join our team and support the delivery of two key projects: Practice: Bradford and INSIDE OUT. Practice: Bradford is an artist development programme aimed at accelerating the development of four emerging visual artists connected to Bradford through mentoring, professional development and public exhibition.

INSIDE OUT is a community-focused initiative designed to enhance children’s play opportunities through contemporary art and creative practices in Beeston and Beeston Hill including supporting the creation of Rowland Road Play Patch, a community-led transformation of a neglected plot into a green play space in collaboration with local families and artists.

We are looking for an Assistant Curator with experience in supporting artists and their projects, who has a passion for contemporary visual art in the region. The successful candidate will be a highly-organised self-starter and an excellent communicator, able to use their initiative to problem solve and build strong relationships. They will have the ability to engage and work with a wide range of individuals, partners and groups to deliver inclusive and accessible projects.

The Assistant Curator will be based at Yorkshire Contemporary’s Leeds office with frequent delivery on site in Bradford and elsewhere in West Yorkshire. They will be a key part of the team, reporting to the Head of Programme & Engagement.

We are open to flexible working arrangements and encourage applications from individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds, particularly those who identify as D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent, come from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, or are part of the Global Majority.
