Artists Bio:
Rene Matić was born in Peterborough in 1997, they live and work in London. Matić uses photography along with sculpture, textiles, sound, moving image and writing to reflect on identity, community and love. Their work often captures scenes and snippets from everyday life, subcultures and their own personal background to ask questions about race, gender, class and nationality.
Created amid a backdrop of right-wing populism, violence and political hypocrisy, Matić’s exhibition As Opposed to the Truth explores how despite this, people can ‘hold on to one another, care for each other, and learn to live with vulnerability.’
The Celebration Choir was established in 2014 and is under the direction of Colin Williams, a distinguished and celebrated gospel singer, director, and backing vocalist based in the United Kingdom. Mr. Williams has previously led the esteemed United Voices Concert Choir (UVCC) and United Voices Youth Chorale (UVYC). The Celebration Choir comprises a diverse assembly of gifted singers hailing from the Yorkshire, Pennine regions, and beyond. Furthermore, the choir has endeavored to disseminate the message inherent in gospel music throughout the United Kingdom, as well as performing internationally in Europe and the United States.
