Join artist Izzy Dabiri at Dream Space, a free weekly playgroup for 0-5 year olds and their grown ups.

Specifically designed for under 5s, Izzy draws on her background in theatre and experience as a textiles artist to build a soft, engaging and intriguing space for you and your child to play, explore and be in. As the sessions continue, families are invited to work with Izzy to grow the space, adapting it to how you like to play.

Each week different activities will be incorporated into the sessions, exploring sound and touch through musical instruments, dress up and exploring shadow and light through projections. Izzy will also work with musicians to create ambient sounds to be enjoyed during the sessions.

Practical information:

About the artist
Izzy Dabiri is an artist and educator based in South Yorkshire. She predominantly works with textiles, sound and in community engagement, often drawing on their background in theatre. Working in and with communities is fundamental to Izzy’s practice, reflecting on their experience of accessing creativity and creative education, they believe everyone should be supported to express themselves. Through her work, she aims to create spaces that are care-filled, generative and that allow for self-expression and connection. Their experiences as a parent, artist and leading intergenerational art projects have taught them the value of play and the exciting things that can happen when we make space for it.

Yorkshire Contemporary is collaborating with Hamara Healthy Living Centre to provide a positive, relaxed session each week for families with young children to play together as part of Inside Out Yorkshire Contemporary’s art and play project for children and families in Beeston and Beeston Hill.
