Join Yorkshire Contemporary for a summer of art, play and food in Cross Flatts Park.

Perfect for children aged 5–11, this free programme invites you to make, build and eat together outdoors as part of a series of artist designed activities.

Practical information

  • Art & craft activities are free and drop-in. No booking required.
  • Free ‘Healthy Holidays’ food for children receiving free school meals.
  • Sessions are open access. This means children can come and go as they please.
  • Art, Play, Food is staffed but parents remain responsible for their children at all times. Please note, we are not a childcare service.
  • Children may use tools under supervision and engage with paint or other messy materials. Please do not wear best clothes. 
  • All activities take place outside, so please ensure your child is prepared for the weather. We cannot provide or apply suncream, hats, or other weather-related items.
  • If your child has any access requirements or specific needs, please contact us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate and ensure they are included in the sessions.

Food

  • Lunch will be served between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM
  • Free ‘Healthy Holidays’ meals can be booked in advance via the Healthy Holidays web portal.
  • Meals can also be bought for £5 per child.
  • Look for Art, Play, Food and other great projects for children eligible for income-related Free School Meals in Leeds once you have registered your child.
