Join artist and art therapist Thahmina Begum and Yorkshire Contemporary for a free, drop in art and play group at Hamara Healthy Living Centre.

As a fully-trained art therapist, Thahmina will support you and your little one to play, connect and grow together through the arts.

These sessions are relaxed, friendly and flexible. Everyone is welcome.

Practical information

  • These sessions are free, drop-in sessions. No booking required, just turn up!
  • These sessions are staffed but please stay with your child at all times.

Access

  • Play Sessions take place on the ground floor of Hamara Healthy Living Centre.
  • There is ramped access from the street and level access throughout the route to the play sessions.

About

Thahmina Begum lives and works in Beeston, Leeds. She is an artist, poet, and workshop facilitator as well as a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist (HCPC, BATT). She has clinical experience in the NHS, schools, online and in community art therapy projects across Yorkshire. She explores cultures, identities, and the British/Bangladeshi/Muslim diaspora through her work. She believes that art can improve health and welbeing. Her diverse practice includes printmaking, collage, embroidery, painting, drawing, poetry, and creative conversations.

Begum’s recent work/commissions include working with British Library, Leeds Art Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Yorkshire Sculpture International and Leeds 2023.

Yorkshire Contemporary is collaborating with Hamara Healthy Living Centre to provide a positive, relaxed session each week for families with young children to play together as part of Inside Out, Yorkshire Contemporary’s art and play project for children and families in Beeston and Beeston Hill.
