Announcing Sable Radio’s new commission

Journal 16 Feb 2022

The Tetley is excited to present a new commission by Sable Radio.

Sable Radio will launch a new studio space for young people on The Tetley’s second floor.

This new space will provide tools and technology for young people to be creative and experiment with music, sound and visual art.

Focusing on self expression, identity exploration and collaboration, this new space aims to address increasing barriers to creative practices, particularly digital practices, that many young people face.

About

Sable Radio is an online radio station and creative media platform made in Leeds and enjoyed worldwide. The station was founded in 2019 to facilitate alternative pathways into the creative industries for young people from marginalised communities, addressing the increasing barriers they face by providing opportunities and resources to develop their practice.

They broadcast, curate programmes, produce podcasts and films, run workshops and throw parties. Sable Radio has worked on projects with partners including Black Obsidian Sound System, Fact Liverpool, Leeds West Indian Carnival and Leeds 2023 as well as producing a range of in-house projects such as Separation Anxiety and ReSound.
