2. Watch Justin in conversation with writer Paul Clinton

Taking ingredients and bodies from his solo exhibition, Alpha Salad, this conversation between Fitzpatrick and writer Paul Clinton carries us through the intestinal gallery spaces.

We explore Fitzpatrick’s painting, sculpture and the unique pairings created with works from Leeds University Library Galleries and Special Collections, including photographs from the Leeds Archive of Vernacular Culture.

Watch the recorded version of this live stream event below.

3. Own a slice of the Alpha Salad exhibition with an exclusive Artist Edition

We are serving you a portion of Justin’s exhibition with his exclusive Artist Edition.

Vegetal Hand (2022) is loosely based on an 18th century ivory back scratcher, a very rudimentary prosthesis to extend the capacity of the body. Instead of the mutual reciprocity of ‘You scratch my back I scratch yours’ the object suggests the solitary need to self soothe.

Crafted with red macramé cord, brass wire, and painted urethane, this don’t miss this opportunity to own one of only ten editions.

4. Immerse yourself in Alpha Salad activities

The Art Doctors playfully break down barriers to participation in art and culture, and explore the positive role of creativity in all our lives.

They’ve been exploring the Alpha Salad exhibition and thinking about their responses, particularly how hard it is sometimes to talk about contemporary art.

They used these responses to develop these activities. Have a go recreating them in our galleries.
